Job summary

University of Utah Health is hiring Classroom Assistants for the South Jordan Health Center Program. The role involves supporting the care of children birth to six in a drop-in childcare setting, under guidance of a licensed teacher.

This is a part-time, non-benefited staff/student position with a flexible evening/day schedule. Responsibilities include assisting teachers, ensuring a safe environment, and communicating with families as needed.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position. Training will be provided.
• Must demonstrate interest in learning about child development and guidance.
• Willing to obtain a food handler's permit, TB test, background check, and first aid training within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to interact effectively with children and their parents/guardians.

Responsibilities

• Assist children in physical, social and intellectual tasks.
• Observe behavior and offer suggestions to the teacher when appropriate.
• Support teacher with activities and maintain a clean, orderly environment.
• Plan a small group activity with Head Teacher and supervise playground as needed.
