Job summary

University of Utah is hiring for a part-time childcare provider in the Student Parent Support Center. Role involves assisting in three campus child care programs for students, faculty, staff, and patients, including drop-in care at U Health Centers across the Salt Lake Valley.

Responsibilities include supporting children’s learning and play, assisting teachers, and ensuring a safe, orderly environment. Requires HS diploma, ability to lift children, and availability for in-person meetings.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with training provided.
• Interest in learning about child development and guidance.
• Willing to obtain food handlers permit, TB test, BCI background check, and first aid training within first 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Help children succeed in physical, social, and intellectual tasks.
• Reinforce concepts presented by the teacher and observe behavior.
• Document observations and assist the teacher as needed.
• Do not directly communicate with parents about children's problems.
• Support group supervision when teacher is engaged elsewhere.
• Assist with planning with teacher and staff.
• Plan small group activities with Head Teacher assistance.
• Supervise playgrounds unless indoors requested.
