Job summary

The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) is seeking a Part-time Choir Faculty member to lead and develop the IMSA choral program for 0.25 FTE.

Responsibilities include directing Chamber and Concert Choirs, supporting ILMEA and solo/ensemble events, and offering student tutoring, with additional rehearsals and 4 concerts across the year. Requires a Master’s in Music and solid teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Music or related field.
• At least 1 year teaching music or conducting choir/band/orchestra.
• Experience with diverse backgrounds.
• Effective communication with students, staff, parents.
• Engaged in reflective professional practice.
• Highly motivated, results-oriented.
• Strong interpersonal skills for a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach/direct the Chamber and Concert Choirs.
• Use IMSA’s instructional technology platforms, including SIS/LMS.
• Guide and tutor students outside of class time.
• Participate in curriculum and assessment development.
• Attend all year-start meetings for similar full-time positions.
• Attend Faculty and Team Meetings on I-Days and Family Days.
• Maintain 1.0 hours of office hours weekly.
• Complete state-mandated trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
