Job summary

Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-Time Faculty members to provide high-quality instruction and student support in alignment with the District's mission of advancing equity, student success, and academic excellence. Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.

Faculty are expected to teach according to approved outlines, engage students, assess learning, and maintain

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry AND a Master's degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Physics, Molecular Biology or Geochemistry.
• Ability to teach and support diverse student populations; commitment to equity and student success.
• Official transcripts or unofficial transcripts and a detailed record of relevant professional work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District's learning management system and other instructional technologies as appropriate.
• Comply with District policies, collective bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development, and other college activities as appropriate for part-time faculty.

Education

Master's in Chemistry

Bachelor's in Chemistry or Biochemistry and Master's in Biochemistry or related field
