Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina is seeking a part-time truck driver training instructor to teach students to become licensed CDL Class A drivers, including classroom and over-the-road instruction. You will meet with students weekly or on weekends as needed to prepare them for the CDL program and explain career requirements before entry.

The role requires adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, thorough recordkeeping for audits, and maintaining required certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years related work experience in trucking or CDL operations.
• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• Must maintain CDL Class A license with Instruction Permit.
• 5 years current work experience in Truck Driving.
• 1 year teaching and training experience in Truck Driving.
• Background check and periodic drug screenings required.
• Defensive Driver certification due within 6 months of hire.
• AAMVA Examiner's Training Program certification or ability to attend the training.

Responsibilities

• Teach students to become licensed CDL Class A drivers.
• Conduct weekly or weekend training sessions as needed.
• Maintain accurate student records and logs.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and changes.
• Schedule student testing with the local DMV office.
• Serve as a role model to students and support job placement.
