Qualifications

• One year of cooking experience is required.
• Ability to cook simple meals and assist with complex dishes.
• Knowledge of approved sanitary methods for handling and serving food.
• Knowledge of approved sanitary methods for care and use of equipment.
• Ability to operate kitchen and dining room equipment.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to supervise student employees.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, and nights.
• Ability to read and understand recipes.
• Must obtain food handler certification within six months of start date (ServSafe).

Responsibilities

• Cook food in large quantities following recipes and SOPs.
• Read computer-generated recipes and menus for simple meals.
• Clean cooking equipment, work areas and utensils.
• Prepare ingredients and portions for cooking.
• Transport and serve food to diners and maintain food quality.
• Assist with more complex dishes and food preparation.
• Roast, fry, boil, broil, and season meats and vegetables.
• Follow recipes and measure ingredients accurately.
• Display and portion prepared foods as required.
• Maintain sanitary storage and proper temperatures.
