Job summary

Livingston County Government is seeking a part-time LETS Bus Driver to transport passengers, including school-age children and the elderly, with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

You will maintain trip logs, operate a chairlift, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure proper vehicle care. A Michigan CDL Class C with passenger endorsement, MDOT medical certification, and CPR training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must attain a Michigan Commercial Driver's License - Class C with passenger endorsement.
• Must pass a Michigan Department of Transportation physical and drug screen prior to employment.
• Must obtain a MDOT Medical Examiner's certification within ten days of employment and CPR training within six months of employment.
• Certifications must be maintained throughout employment.
• Knowledge of safe driving techniques and providing customer service for transporting citizens.
• Knowledge of County roads, reading maps, and driving in all weather conditions.
• Basic math skills, preparing receipts and daily log reports.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment.
• Ability to assess situations, solve problems, work under stress, and in emergencies.
• Skill in Microsoft Suite and data entry on department software.
• Skill in using chair lifts and securing passengers.
• Skill in using electronic equipment on County vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Drives L.E.T.S. vehicle to transport passengers to various destinations and assists passengers.
• Maintains a log of trips and number of passengers; verifies fares, fuel, and mileage.
• Operates chairlift to assist boarding and ensures passengers are secured.
• Performs MDOT pre-inspection and post-inspection and reports deficiencies.
• Fuels and cleans vehicle during shift.
• Records incidents, injuries, or vehicle damage with proper reporting.
• Performs other duties as directed.
• Work hours vary per week from 0-40 hours depending on availability and scheduling.
