Job summary

SAFEbuilt is seeking a Building Official to join our Greater Cleveland team on a part-time basis. You will apply local building codes, review plans, inspect sites, and supervise department staff as needed in a dynamic, client-focused environment.

The role requires OH CBO Level 5 or CCO Level 6 certification, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects across commercial and residential trades.

Qualifications

• OH Commercial Building Official certification (CBO) lvl5 or Comprehensive Code Official (CCO) lvl6 required.
• Plumbing and/or electrical specializations are a plus.
• Ohio certifications are a plus and inspection experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet all state and local code compliance and reporting requirements.
• Apply building codes, policies, and procedures to department operations.
• Serve as primary liaison with clients and ensure high customer service.
• Attend department and community meetings as required.
• Perform plan reviews for commercial and residential work.
• Provide inspection support as needed.
• Supervise building department staff.
