Job summary

SAFEbuilt is seeking a part-time Building Official for the Greater Cleveland area. The role focuses on code compliance, plan reviews, and client service across commercial and residential projects.

The ideal candidate will have OH CBO/CCO certifications or equivalent, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. A valid driver’s license and driving within the region are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local building code regulations, policies and procedures.
• Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exercise initiative and independent judgment.
• Self-directed and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Meet all state and locally mandated code compliance and reporting requirements.
• Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to day-to-day functions of the building department.
• Serve as the primary liaison with clients to deliver the highest level of customer service.
• Attend department and community meetings as required by the client.
• Perform some plan reviews for commercial and residential in all trades.
• Provide inspection support as needed.
