Job summary

Empowerly is seeking an experienced BS/MD College Admissions Counselor to guide high school students pursuing highly selective colleges and BS/MD programs.

The ideal candidate has college counseling experience or experience as a former admissions officer at a highly selective university, with a strong STEM background in medicine, pre-med, engineering, CS, or related fields. This part-time role requires after-school or weekend availability.

Qualifications

• Experience in college admissions counseling or as an admissions officer at a highly selective university.
• Strong writing, editing and communication skills for student applications and essays.
• Ability to develop individualized academic and extracurricular roadmaps and provide structured feedback.
• Familiarity with BS/MD pathways, STEM-focused admissions and related programs.

Responsibilities

• Stay current on admissions trends for top universities and BS/MD programs.
• Manage a caseload of ~20-25 students.
• Develop personalized roadmaps and identify meaningful research and experiences.
• Advise on extracurriculars, leadership, research, clinical experiences and internships.
• Create balanced college lists with reach/target/safety options.
• Guide students through personal statements, essays, activities and recommendations.
• Provide BS/MD-specific guidance including interview prep.
• Develop application strategies across Early Action/ED/Regular decisions.
• Communicate with students and families and track progress.
• Leverage Empowerly resources to support students.
