Job summary

Empowerly, a fully remote education technology company, seeks an experienced BS/MD College Admissions Counselor to guide high school students toward selective colleges and combined medical programs. The part-time role focuses on individualized planning, meaningful research, and strategic application support.

The ideal candidate has college counseling experience or as a former admissions officer at a top university, strong STEM background, and excellent writing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a top 50 national university required.
• Experience counseling students to top 50 universities or as an admissions officer preferred.
• Experience advising BS/MD/pre-med, STEM, or healthcare pathways.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Flexible after 3:00 p.m. and/or weekends for sessions.

Responsibilities

• Guide students and families with individualized admissions strategies.
• Develop academic and extracurricular roadmaps aligned to BS/MD goals.
• Identify research, clinical, volunteer, and leadership opportunities.
• Create balanced BS/MD and college lists with reach/target choices.
• Support personal statements, essays, activities, and recommendations.
• Provide BS/MD-specific guidance and interview prep.
• Manage a caseload of ~20–25 students based on bandwidth.
• Maintain regular communication and document progress in a system.
