Job summary

The State of Florida's Department of Health in Port Charlotte is seeking an OPS Family Support Worker to serve as the WIC breastfeeding peer counselor. This 24-hour-per-week position requires personal breastfeeding experience and the ability to work with diverse clients, including weekends and evenings.

The role involves counseling, data entry in FL-WiSE, and providing referrals to IBCLC and other health professionals, while collaborating with WIC staff across clinics.

Qualifications

• Personal breastfeeding experience is required.
• Fluent or proficient in communicating with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of breastfeeding benefits and ability to promote and educate on it.

Responsibilities

• Counsel WIC pregnant and postpartum women via telephone and in-person visits.
• Be willing to be on-call for clients during office hours and weekends.
• Accurately completes and submits administrative records in FL-WiSE and other forms.
