Job summary

Holmes County General Health District is seeking a qualified candidate for the part-time Breastfeeding Peer position, working 10-16 hours per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Under the general supervision of the WIC Director, the Breastfeeding Peer provides basic breastfeeding information, encouragement and support to Holmes County pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

Responsibilities include one-on-one support, arranging home visits as needed, leading Infant Feeding Classes, maintaining

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of exclusively or substantially breastfed one infant for at least six months.
• Must be a current or former WIC participant.
• Must be enthusiastic about breastfeeding and able to build rapport with participants.
• Prior WIC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Offers information, encouragement and support to breastfeeding and pregnant WIC participants.
• Provides one-on-one support to breastfeeding and pregnant women.
• Conducts Infant Feeding Classes for WIC participants and the public.
• Maintains required records and reports for grant compliance.
• Attends staff meetings and participates as a WIC team member.
