Job summary

The Division of Hematology/Oncology at UAB Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a part-time, day-shift position in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. This role involves evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with hematologic malignancies and those undergoing autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

The APP will provide continuity of care across pre-, peri-, post-, and long-term follow-up phases of transplant and assist with procedures within

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing with Adult Acute Care NP certification required.
• PA-C certification from an accredited PA program required. Education may not be substituted by experience.

Responsibilities

• Formulates and implements comprehensive patient care plans based on assessments.
• Ensures complete documentation of assessments and care plans.
• Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Maintains regulatory and Joint Commission documentation.
• May assist in coordinating research protocols and patient advocacy.
• Provides education to patients, families, and staff.
• Acts as a clinical resource to the care team.
• Performs duties within the defined scope of practice.
