Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a part-time Biomedical Ethics Program Director to lead the LGH ethics program, grow the BME Committee, and oversee the Ethics Consultation Service, ethics education, and policy development for clinical staff.

The BME PD collaborates across teams to design, implement and evaluate ethics programming, stays current with bioethics and health law, and serves as a trusted resource to administration and clinicians while advancing equitable patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in a relevant field or healthcare/ethics.
• Board certification as a Chaplain with healthcare experience or equivalent ethics training.
• Experience in healthcare ethics, ethics consultations, and education is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide ethics consultations and coordinate ethics activities with clinical teams.
• Lead the Ethics Committee and coordinate ethics education and policy development.
• Develop and administer ethics programming, education, and resources for staff.
• Collaborate with UPHS and LGH leadership to align ethics goals with institutional strategy.
• Stay current in bioethics, health law, end-of-life and related areas, informing policy decisions.
