Job summary

Identity, a nonprofit community-based organization, is seeking a part-time ESOL instructor to teach adult learners (ages 18+) in Montgomery County. Instruction may take place in community settings, virtually, in person, or hybrid, depending on the cohort.

The ESOL instructor will plan engaging, trauma-informed lessons focused on practical English for daily living, work readiness, and community integration. Evening hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, social sciences, or related field is required.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Experience teaching adult learners, high school equivalency programs, or youth education programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and deliver beginner ESOL lessons.
• Teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking with emphasis on real-life communication.
• Differentiate instruction for multi-level classes.
• Create inclusive classroom environment and encourage participation.
• Integrate activities and technology to enhance learning.
• Assess progress and provide feedback.
• Maintain attendance and progress records.
