Job summary

Haverhill Pavilion Behavioral Health seeks part-time Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) to join our facility. You will be part of an interdisciplinary treatment team providing 1:1 support to patients in acute psychiatric crises, under RN supervision.

We offer 24-hour coverage with shifts 07:00-15:30; pay range $17-$20.25 per hour plus differential. Benefits include medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) with match, paid time off, holidays, EAP, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Six months of experience with similar patient population preferred
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training provided)
• First aid may be required by state or facility

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety checks at 15-minute intervals to ensure patient safety.
• Engage with patients to assess mental status and progress toward treatment goals.
• Observe behaviors and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
• Encourage participation in therapeutic activities and use individualized behavior strategies.
• Assist in crises with verbal de-escalation and CPI-compliant interventions.
• Provide consistent 1:1 support and maintain therapeutic engagement.
• Float to different hospital units to balance staffing needs.
• Educate colleagues on triggers, warning signs, and coping strategies.
• Identify barriers to discharge planning and communicate needs.
• Assist with admissions orientation and unit guidelines review.
• Reinforce unit rules and model professional behavior.
• Mentor new BHAs under nursing guidance.
• Protect and advocate for patient rights.
• Attend department meetings and review minutes when needed.
• Complete annual mandatory training and seek ongoing education.
