Job summary

The Best Bees Company is seeking a part-time beekeeper in Omaha, NE to service hives in the Omaha region and perform installations, relocations, and removals. The role involves recording hive data via our app, maintaining equipment, and assisting with honey sampling and events.

A valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and ability to lift 50 lbs are required. Beekeeping experience is essential, and candidates should be comfortable working in the field with remote managers.

Qualifications

• Beekeeping experience required or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to service hives in Omaha area.
• Access to a vehicle for transporting equipment.
• Must have a smartphone and be comfortable using Slack, Google services and Apple products.
• Strong communication, promptness, and reliability a must.
• Willingness to handle last-minute tasks and hive checks.
• Experience with public speaking or hosting events is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in the field with remote management support.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Service hives in the Omaha region following monthly objectives.
• Record hive information using our proprietary application.
• Perform hive installations, relocations, and removals.
• Maintain equipment and facilities, build boxes/frames, manage inventory and cleaning.
• Administer Varroa mite treatments safely and efficiently.
• Maintain professional communication with clients and managers.
• Assist with collection of honey samples for genomic testing and events.
• Site consultations for hive placement with client guidance.
