Job summary

The Best Bees Company is seeking a part-time beekeeper to service hives in the Hartford, CT area. You will record hive details in our app and perform installations, relocations, and removals while maintaining equipment and inventory.

This role supports research efforts and requires independent field work with remote manager guidance. Qualifications include at least one season of beekeeping, a valid drivers license, vehicle access, smartphone, and strong communication skills with familiarity

Qualifications

• Beekeeping experience for at least one full season.
• Valid drivers license.
• Ability to service hives in Hartford, CT area.
• Access to a vehicle for transporting equipment.
• Access to a smartphone.
• Clear communication using Slack, Google services and Apple products.
• Willingness to take on last-minute hive tasks and events.
• Familiarity with public speaking or event hosting.
• Ability to work independently in the field with remote support.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and following safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Service hives in the Hartford region following monthly objectives.
• Record hive details in our proprietary app.
• Perform hive installations, relocations, and removals.
• Maintain equipment and facilities, build boxes/frames, manage inventory.
• Administer Varroa mite treatments safely and efficiently.
• Maintain professional communication with clients and managers.
• Assist with honey sample collection for genomic testing and events.
• Conduct site consultations for new client hive locations per guidelines.
• Facilitate honey extraction using rental equipment or transfer to harvesting sites.
