Job summary

The Nightingale-Bamford School is seeking a part-time athletic trainer for 25 hours per week. The role focuses on assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for student-athletes in accordance with NYS athletic training practice act.

Working hours are typically 2:00 PM–7:00 PM on school days, with some weekend or late events as needed, coordinated with the full-time athletic training staff. The position reports to the Director of Athletics and Physical Education.

Qualifications

• NATABOC certified.
• Registered Athletic Trainer with NYSED Office of Professions.
• CPR/AED & First Aid certified.
• BS in Athletic Training required.
• Experience working with high school-aged athletes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and other members of the School community.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for injured student-athletes during scheduled hours.
• Cover afternoon practices and home games, including setup and breakdown of water and ice coolers and team preparations.
• Keep coaches informed of health-related concerns for athletes on rosters (allergies, asthma, etc.).
• Support the concussion team, including ImPACT baseline and post-injury testing for grades 5–12.
• Adhere to Emergency Action Plans and environmental hazard guidelines during sessions.
• Coordinate with full-time staff to ensure continuity of care and handoff of notes at shift change.
• Assist with maintaining and restocking training room supplies and med-kits.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
