Job summary

Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC is seeking an Associate Director of College Counseling (part-time) to lead a thoughtful, data-informed college planning process for around 18 students.

You will collaborate with school leadership to develop an inclusive counseling program, write compelling letters of recommendation, and communicate clearly with families about admissions, financial aid, and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.
• Minimum of 3 years in selective college admissions or college counseling.

Responsibilities

• Advise and support approximately 18 students through all phases of the college process.
• Collaborate with school leadership to develop an inclusive, forward-thinking counseling program.
• Write detailed, personal letters of recommendation for counselees.
• Communicate clearly with students and parents on admissions, testing, and financial aid trends.
• Coordinate with the College Counseling team to organize events and develop programs.
• Stay informed on college programs and policies through conferences, tours, and reading.
• Build strong relationships with admissions officers at colleges and universities.
• Represent GDS to colleges, highlighting the unique aspects of a GDS education.
• Participate in school life through faculty meetings and academic advising.
