Job summary

Waypoint Services is seeking an Assistant Teacher for a part-time role serving school‑age children before and after school at KidsPoint C Street. You will help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment and partner with other teachers to structure each day.

The position offers a consistent, part‑time schedule with no nights or weekends and opportunities to gain experience in education and child development.

Qualifications

• Be at least 16 years old
• Have a high school diploma/GED (or be working toward one)
• Have 1 year of childcare experience (preferred), not required – we’re happy to train the right person
• Have reliable transportation and a strong commitment to being on time
• Feel confident interacting with children and communicating with parents
• Be willing to complete required training once hired (CPR/First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, etc.)
• Be able to stay active throughout your shift, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Help lead fun, age-appropriate activities and learning experiences that keep kids engaged and learning
• Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development
• Supervise children to ensure a safe environment at all times
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Help keep the classroom organized, clean, and ready for learning
• Use positive guidance to encourage good behavior and problem-solving
• Support daily routines like snacks, hygiene, and transitions
