Job summary

Dollar Tree is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Darien, IL to support store operations, assist customers, and develop a cohesive team. You will help manage day-to-day activities, ensure displays and shelves are well-stocked, and enforce company policies with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

The role emphasizes opening/closing procedures, processing directives, and payroll-related tasks while maintaining a clean, organized store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics) is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process corporate directives related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and loss prevention
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store areas
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash
• Adhere to safety guidelines and policies
• Help supervise, train, and develop store associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness of the store and restrooms
• Other duties as assigned
