Job summary

Dollar Tree is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our Salem, VA location to support store operations, customer service and team development. In this role, you will assist with daily functions, supervise associates, help with merchandising, scheduling and loss prevention, and ensure a clean, welcoming store.

The ideal candidate has retail management experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead a high-energy team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Help merchandise transfer from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping including payroll and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect store assets including cash.
• Enforce policies and safety guidelines.
• Help supervise, train, and develop store associates.
• Ensure a safe, respectful environment with professional interactions.
• Maintain cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
