Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores INC in Grand Rapids is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with opening/closing, supervise store associates, organize merchandise, and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.

The role requires lifting up to 55 lbs, and working in a high-energy team setting. We value strong communication, exceptional customer service, and the ability to interpret directives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for store-front appeal.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep and mop floors, and manage waste.
• Other duties as assigned.
