Job summary

Family Dollar in Kansas City is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service, and team development. You will oversee day-to-day activities, assist in payroll and scheduling, and ensure a clean, safe, and friendly store environment.

The role requires leadership to train Store Associates, maintain inventory and displays, and uphold company policies. This is a part-time on-site position with opportunities to grow within the store leadership team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Retail management experience in grocery, retail, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to shoulder height and stand/walk for long periods.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to supervise and develop store associates.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional displays and store fixtures; ensure loss prevention practices.
• Assist in payroll, scheduling, and cash handling; manage deposits and receipts.
• Keep store areas clean, well-stocked, and organized to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Supervise, train, and develop Store Associates; ensure safe, respectful environment.
• Ensure policies and safety guidelines are followed by associates.
