Job summary

Woods Rogers is a Virginia-based law firm seeking an Assistant General Counsel to support the General Counsel and the conflicts and new client intake team in Roanoke, VA. This part-time position also involves conducting research and providing strategic advice on risk management, ethics, employment matters, investigations, client engagement, and contracts.

The role requires JD and substantial experience in conflicts and client intake, with opportunities to collaborate across the firm to uphold

Qualifications

• JD degree required.
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience at a law firm or general counsel's office.
• Expertise in conflicts and new client intake processes.
• Strong ethics, risk management, compliance and contract knowledge.
• Strong research and legal writing skills; ability to draft complex documents.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, and communication abilities.
• Ability to build professional relationships with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to the conflicts and new client intake team.
• Collaborate with leadership to uphold ethical conduct and risk management.
• Assist GC in managing internal legal matters and risk strategies.
• Counsel on professional responsibility, conflicts, and confidentiality.
• Draft and review firm contracts and agreements.
• Contribute to firm policies and training on legal risk and ethics.
• Support internal investigations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
