A local educational institution is seeking a part-time Temporary Ed Para/ Language Coach for the 2026/2027 school year. This role will provide direct support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students, focusing on language development and self-advocacy skills. Responsibilities include individualized instruction in ASL and promoting understanding of Deaf culture. Qualifications include proficiency in ASL and experience with D/HH individuals. The position offers flexible hours totaling approximately 6-8 hours per week.
Qualifications
Proficiency in ASL; EIPA or RID scores may be required.
Experience working in educational settings is preferred.
Strong understanding of the unique educational needs of D/HH students.
Responsibilities
Provide individual/small-group ASL instruction based on student needs.
Support vocabulary and communication skills relevant to school and home.
Foster self-advocacy skills by teaching students how to request support.
Skills
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
