Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Fluency in ASL and English required.
• RID Certification (NIC or CI/CT) or equivalent credentials required.
• Experience interpreting in higher education, healthcare, medical or research settings.
• Strong knowledge of interpreting practices and ethics.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret complex medical and scientific terminology.
• Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate ASL interpretation for meetings, presentations, seminars, and events.
• Interpret medical education, research, and clinical discussions.
• Facilitate communication between the deaf faculty member and colleagues and external partners.
• Review materials in advance to familiarize terminology.
• Maintain confidentiality of research and university information.
• Coordinate interpretation needs and scheduling with faculty and staff.
• Attend in-person and virtual meetings as required.
• Adhere to RID ethics and professional standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
