Job summary

Global Language System in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking qualified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for in-person interpretation on a contract, freelance, or part-time basis.

Interpreters will support communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals and hearing clients across medical, educational, government, and community settings, with strict confidentiality and adherence to RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

• Fluency in ASL and English.
• RID Certification (NIC, CI/CT or equivalent) preferred.
• State of Minnesota interpreter certification (if applicable).
• Minimum 1–2 years of professional interpreting experience.
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and community.
• Ability to pass background check (required for certain assignments).

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and culturally appropriate ASL interpretation services
• Facilitate effective communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing and hearing individuals
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics (RID Code of Professional Conduct)
• Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled assignments
• Adapt interpreting style to suit various settings (medical, legal, educational, business, etc.)
• Complete required documentation and reporting after assignments
