Job summary

ProCare Therapy is seeking a part-time Sign Language Interpreter to support a 1st-grade student in a suburban elementary school near Oxford, Alabama. The role begins in September 2026 and runs through the school year, providing direct ASL-English interpretation during instructional and non-instructional times.

Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure access, inclusion, and academic success, while maintaining confidentiality and professional interactions with families.

Qualifications

• Hold a current Sign Language Interpreter Certification.
• Demonstrated expertise in ASL and effective interpretation in educational environments.
• Experience with elementary-aged students preferred.
• Compassionate communicator, able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct interpretation between spoken English and ASL for a 1st-grade student during instructional and non-instructional times.
• Facilitate classroom engagement, supporting both educational and social interactions.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to develop and implement strategies ensuring equitable access to curriculum.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communication logs as required.
• Adjust interpreting methods to meet the evolving needs of the student and the classroom environment.
