Qualifications

• ASL proficiency and interpreting skills in educational settings.
• Experience supporting K-12 students as sign language interpreter or ASL teacher.
• Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff.
• Understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to student needs.
• Certification (EIPA, RID, or state credential) preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpreting services in classrooms, meetings, and school activities
• Collaborate with educators and support teams to adapt materials and communication methods
• Assist with lesson delivery for ASL classes as needed
• Foster an inclusive environment enabling students’ participation in academic and extracurricular programs
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments and ensure confidentiality
• Offer support during parent-teacher conferences, assemblies, and special school events
