Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; AA or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Meets California state licensing requirements including 12 ECE units.
• 1 year of experience in a professional child care or school-aged program.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certifications with 15 hours of health/safety training or training within 90 days of hire.
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Under direction, plan & implement curriculum within guidelines and prepare supplies.
• Work cooperatively with staff to ensure program quality.
• Provide direction to Assistant Teachers/Teacher’s Aides as needed.
• Support YMCA program goals by promoting child growth and exploration.
• Ensure health and well-being of children and report incidents promptly.
• Apply appropriate discipline reinforcing positive behaviors.
• Document notable behavior and incidents per policies.
• Maintain active communication with families and staff; provide feedback on development.
• Maintain required program records.
• Attend program activities, trainings, staff meetings and events.
• Keep center clean and presentable at all times.
• Ensure licensing standards are met at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
