Job summary

Biddeford School Department is seeking an Educational Technician I, II, III or Administrative Assistant for Student Transportation Support at Biddeford Primary School. This is a part-time role with scheduling up to 3 hours weekly between 2:30 PM–4:30 PM, typically 1–2 days per week, as transportation needs dictate.

The position emphasizes student safety, calm supervision, and collaboration with school staff.

Qualifications

• Eligible for Maine Department of Education certification as Educational Technician I.
• Course work in education or a related field is preferred.
• Safety Care trained or willingness to complete Safety Care training upon hire (training provided by the district).
• Demonstrated ability to work calmly and effectively with students.
• Flexibility to work variable hours based on student transportation needs.
• Reliable transportation and ability to report to work on short notice when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide calm, supportive supervision for students returning from bus routes.
• Ensure student safety, comfort and well-being while awaiting parent pickup.
• Implement de-escalation techniques and behavioral support as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of student arrivals, parent contact attempts, and pickup times.
• Communicate with building principal and office staff regarding student status and parent contact.
• Follow established protocols for contacting parents/guardians and emergency contacts.
• Alert administration to concerns about student welfare or safety issues.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.
• Serve as primary contact for families needing pickup information.
• Assist with clerical tasks and general office duties when no students require supervision.
