Job summary

Latin School of Chicago is seeking applicants for a part-time Extended Day Coordinator position. The Extended Day Coordinator is responsible for the daily coordination and successful implementation of the Extended Day program, helping to create a safe, organised, and engaging after-school environment that supports the positive growth and well-being of students.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience working in after-school programmes, youth development, education, recreation, or a related field.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Strong classroom management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic after-school environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the daily operations of the Extended Day program.
• Serve as the primary on-site support for Extended Day staff by providing guidance, coordinating schedules, room coverage, student transitions, and staff assignments.
• Monitor attendance and dismissal procedures, including scanning weekly attendance sheets, coordinating safe dismissals, and assisting with parent communication and student pick-up.
• Support staff through coaching, modelling best practices, and providing coverage during breaks, absences, or other staffing needs.
• Serve as the first point of contact for student behaviour concerns, partnering with staff and the Assistant Director to implement positive behaviour strategies and document incidents as needed.
• Support the planning and implementation of daily activities, special events, and enrichment opportunities while ensuring programme spaces, supplies, and materials are organised and prepared.
• Collaborate regularly with the Assistant Director and Latin 360° office to communicate operational updates, staffing needs, and opportunities for continuous programme improvement.
• Model Latin's mission by fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment for students, families, and staff.
