Job summary

The University of Minnesota is seeking an educator to teach a supplemental afterschool course for high school students in collaboration with TRIO Upward Bound. Courses run weekly, with preparation time and staff training, across the Oct–May academic year at UMN Twin Cities.

Responsibilities include instruction, curriculum development, assessment, and supervising a teaching assistant, along with alignment to the local school calendar and program goals.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree and classroom teaching experience.
• Ability to work with diverse urban high school students.
• Availability during the specified calendar (Oct–May or Jan–May) and alignment with Minneapolis Public School calendar.
• Ability to develop and deliver course content effectively.
• Strong collaboration with Teaching Assistant and TRIO UB staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach a weekly high school course at UMN Twin Cities (Appleby Hall) in alignment with the Minneapolis School District calendar.
• Monitor student attendance and document student performance.
• Revise and update curriculum; prepare weekly lesson plans with differentiated instruction.
• Assess student growth and inform TRIO UB staff of progress and concerns.
• Supervise one undergraduate teaching assistant and assign duties.
