Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Experience using nontraditional teaching methods, preferably in an adult environment.
• Ability to teach at the pace of students and work with students one-on-one or in groups.
• Commitment to serving a diverse community, including English language learners.
• Proficiency in using technology to deliver distance education and to create lesson materials.
• Maintain CASAS certification as mandated by VDOE.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a professional classroom with effective classroom management.
• Provides instruction in English as a second language to adult participants.
• Prepares lesson plans incorporating critical thinking and test-taking skills.
• Administers assessments per schedule and instructor manual.
• Teaches to skill deficits as outlined by CASAS prescriptions.
• Maintains student files, attendance, and records.
