Job summary

TCAT McMinnville is seeking adjunct instructors to teach in automotive, barbering, building construction, IT, cosmetology, welding and other programs on a part-time basis. Instructors deliver hands-on instruction, maintain safe shops, and support student success across flexible day or evening hours.

The position requires minimum three years of relevant work experience, strong work ethic, proficiency with computers, and a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Prior postsecondary teaching is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of approved employment experience in the occupation to be taught beyond the normal learning period.
  • Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on-going projects, and the ability to work with others.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the students, public, and co-workers; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Possess valid TN driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality instruction in their field of expertise as it relates to programs offered at TCAT McMinnville or at instructional centers.
  • Teaches skills appropriate to the occupational area to prepare students as an economic asset.
  • Organizes class time effectively to accomplish learning activities.
  • Maintains safety and order in shops/labs/classrooms.
  • Keeps updated records of competencies acquired by students.
  • Assists in job placement efforts and program follow-ups.
  • Requisitions equipment and supplies as needed within budget guidelines.
  • Participates in faculty/staff committees and professional development opportunities.
