Job summary

TCAT Shelbyville is seeking to build a pool of Adjunct/Substitute Instructors for multiple programs on a part-time basis. Duties include delivering instruction, maintaining a safe learning environment, and using assessments to measure student progress.

Positions pay $25 to $30 per hour and require a high school diploma or equivalent, with 3 years of related work experience and preferred technical teaching background.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or HiSET acceptable.
• Minimum of 3 years of approved work experience in the occupation.
• Technical teaching experience preferred.
• Associate/Bachelor/Diploma in related field is a plus.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.
• Deliver instruction using effective teaching methods and supervision principles.
• Utilize in-class assessment tools and techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.
• Administer and proctor tests for students and outside organizations.
• Record and submit grades and attendance daily using Banner.
• Distribute course syllabus at the beginning of each class outlining competencies and policies.
• Provide guidance to students regarding course progress and concerns.
• Coordinate disciplinary matters with administration and the Student Services Coordinator.
• Monitor and request necessary program supplies; suggest instructional materials.
• Adhere to school calendar; start and end classes on time.
• Conduct student surveys and participate in staff climate surveys.
• Check/respond to emails twice daily.
• Coordinate absences with the VP of Operations; align with student breaks.
• Work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
