Job summary

Total Education Solutions (TES) is seeking an Adapted Physical Education Teacher to support students with disabilities through adaptive curriculum in a hybrid in-person/virtual setting. You will design lessons aligned with IEPs, monitor progress, and collaborate with parents, general education staff, and district personnel.

The role emphasizes maintaining compliance with IDEA, adapting instruction to individual needs, and providing engaging activities to build fitness and motor skills.

Qualifications

• Valid CA credential in Physical Education with Adapted Education authorization or enrolled and CBEST passed.
• Auto insurance with 25/50k liability coverage.
• Background check through FBI/DOJ and current TB test.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student records and communicate progress to parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other service professionals via IEPs.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with IDEA.
• Create and deliver adapted PE lessons to improve fitness and gross motor skills.
• Prepare lessons aligned with IEPs.
• Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Provide positive feedback and foster appreciation for physical education.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and effective learning environment.
• Manage PE inventory and equipment orders.

Adapted PE Teacher

$40 - $48.46 /hr*

*Salary range is contingent upon relatable experience, credentialing/certification, education, and use of a second language in your role (50% of the time).

Expectations

• maintain student records and communicate on-going student progress to parents/guardians, general education teachers, school administration, district personnel, and other service professionals via progress reporting and Individual Education Plans.
• be responsible for maintaining on-going compliance in accordance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
• create and instruct students using adapted physical education techniques to improve overall physical fitness, gross motor skills, and sports and games achievement.
• prepare lessons in accordance with IEPs.
• adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of all students, including age and skill level appropriateness.
• provide positive feedback and help build an appreciation for physical education.
• establish and keep a safe, orderly, and effective environment.
• manage PE inventory and request/order equipment as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• A valid California credential in Physical Education with authorization in Adapted Education or be enrolled in a program and have passed the CBEST with eligibility for a waiver from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing
• Hold appropriate automobile insurance with limits that allow driving a personal vehicle for work (at least 25/50k liability coverage)
• Must clear a current background check through the FBI and DOJ
• A current TB Test

• Varied work environments which could include classrooms, clinics, and/or homes
• Moderate to loud noise levels and physical demands may vary
• Working with individuals exhibiting diverse behaviors and needs
