Total Education Solutions, Inc. in Los Angeles is seeking an Adapted Physical Education Teacher to support students with disabilities through movement, inclusion, and meaningful participation.

This part-time role offers growth opportunities toward a full-time position within charter schools served by the APE team. You will manage IEP-aligned lessons, maintain records, and ensure IDEA compliance while delivering comprehensive APE instruction, equipment management, and a safe, engaging learning

Qualifications

• California credential in Physical Education with Adapted Education authorization or CBEST eligibility.
• Auto insurance with limits for personal use on the job.
• Background check clearance by FBI and DOJ.
• TB Test within the last 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student records and communicate ongoing progress via IEPs to parents/guardians and school staff.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
• Create and instruct adaptive physical education lessons to improve fitness and motor skills.
• Prepare lessons aligned with IEPs and individual needs.
• Adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs (age and skill).
• Provide positive feedback and foster appreciation for physical education.
• Establish and maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment.
• Manage PE inventory and request/order equipment as needed.

Come join our APE team at Total Education Solutions where you will be part of an exciting, collaborative, and supportive team providing APE services at charter schools in Los Angeles. This is a part-time position with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position.

Adapted PE Teacher

Salary: $39 - $48.46 per hour (Salary range is contingent upon relatable experience, credentialing/certification, education, and use of a second language in your role (50% of the time)).

Expectations

• Maintain student records and communicate ongoing student progress to parents/guardians, general education teachers, school administration, district personnel, and other service professionals via progress reporting and Individual Education Plans.
• Be responsible for maintaining ongoing compliance in accordance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
• Create and instruct students using adapted physical education techniques to improve overall physical fitness, gross motor skills, and sports and games achievement.
• Prepare lessons in accordance with IEPs.
• Adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of all students, including age and skill level appropriateness.
• Provide positive feedback and help build an appreciation for physical education.
• Establish and keep a safe, orderly, and effective environment.
• Manage PE inventory and request/order equipment as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• A valid California credential in Physical Education with authorization in Adapted Education or be enrolled in a program and have passed the CBEST with eligibility for a waiver from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
• Hold appropriate automobile insurance with limits that allow driving a personal vehicle for work (at least 25/50k liability coverage).
• Must clear a current background check through the FBI and DOJ.
• A current TB Test (within the last 6 months).

• Varied work environments which could include classrooms, clinics, and/or homes.
• Moderate to loud noise levels and physical demands may vary.
