Job summary

TSP Ed Co is seeking an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to support students in a Los Angeles, CA school setting. You will design and deliver adapted PE, work with the educational team, and help students develop motor, social, and functional skills to participate in school activities.

You will collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families, participate in IEP meetings, and ensure confidentiality while aligning with district policies.

Qualifications

• Active California teaching credential or authorization appropriate for Adaptive Physical Education.
• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Special Education, or a related field.
• Experience with children or adolescents; experience with disabilities is a plus.
• Knowledge of adapted physical education, motor development, and inclusive instruction.
• Ability to modify activities and equipment to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver adapted physical education lessons based on individual student needs.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with diverse abilities.
• Assess students' motor skills and participation needs.
• Develop and implement physical education goals and activities.
• Modify equipment and activities to promote participation.
• Support students in gross motor, coordination, balance, strength, and functional movement.
• Monitor and document progress toward individualized goals.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and school professionals.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student goals and programming.

TSP Ed Co is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to join our team and support students in a school setting in Los Angeles, CA.

This is a great opportunity for an APE Teacher who enjoys creating inclusive physical education experiences, building meaningful relationships with students, and helping children develop the motor, physical, social, and functional skills they need to participate successfully in school and daily activities.

What You'll Do

As an Adaptive PE Teacher, you will work collaboratively with special education staff and other members of the educational team to provide individualized physical education instruction and support. Responsibilities may include:

• Developing and delivering adapted physical education lessons based on individual student needs
• Providing individualized and small-group instruction to students with diverse abilities
• Assessing students' motor skills, physical abilities, and participation needs
• Developing and implementing appropriate physical education goals and activities
• Modifying equipment, activities, and instructional strategies to promote student participation
• Supporting students in developing gross motor, coordination, balance, strength, and functional movement skills
• Monitoring and documenting student progress toward individualized goals
• Collaborating with teachers, therapists, families, and other school professionals
• Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to student goals and programming
• Maintaining student confidentiality and following all school and TSP Ed Co policies

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or adolescents preferred
• Experience supporting students with disabilities or diverse physical needs is a plus

• Ability to modify activities and equipment to meet individual student needs
• Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and classroom management skills
• Compassionate, patient, and committed to helping students succeed
• Ability to meet all applicable school, licensing, and employment requirements
