Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an HB Coding Analyst to serve as the coding and reimbursement expert for ICD-10-CM and HCPC codes. You will ensure accurate coding for outpatient visits and physician encounters while collaborating with Patient Accounting, Registration, and case management.

Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology is expected, with adherence to official coding guidelines and frequent interaction with auditing processes.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in acute healthcare coding.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines.
• Membership in AHIMA or AAPC is required.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4 procedures for outpatient visits.
• Assign Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters.
• Review records and code diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers and clinical areas on coding reimbursement.
• Interpret documentation to report accurate diagnoses and procedures.
• Follow coding guidelines and resolve common coding edits.
• Meet established coding productivity and quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
