San Jose Behavioral Health in San Jose, CA seeks an Admission Specialist Acute to support the Admissions Intake Department in an inpatient psychiatric setting. The role focuses on inquiries, assessments, and patient admissions with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree plus relevant clinical experience; CPR and de-escalation certs are required. The facility is onsite only, serving adults and adolescents in a 133-bed hospital.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science or Social Services field.
• RN with Associate's degree or LPN/LVN training may meet minimum requirements.
• Master’s degree in a therapeutic field is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Facilitate admissions and assessment processes for incoming patients.
• Respond to inquiries about the facility within policy timeframes.
• Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments and communicate recommendations.
• Collaborate with facility staff to ensure appropriate admissions.
• Coordinate admission and transfer between levels of care.
• Communicate projected admissions to internal staff.
• Verify insurance benefits and share findings with patients/families.
• Gather admission documents and secure initial pre-authorization.
• Assist therapists with concurrent reviews with insurers.
• Coordinate peer-to-peer reviews and share results with the team.
• Provide ongoing assessment of patient status in admissions.
• Communicate treatment recommendations to treatment teams.
• Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and patient safety priority.
• Address complaints promptly and professionally.
• Maintain a sense of urgency regarding patient safety.
