Job summary

Belmont Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia seeks a clinical admissions professional to facilitate admissions, conduct intake assessments, and coordinate utilization review. The position involves collaborating with medical and psychiatric staff, scheduling pre-admission activities, and guiding patients and families through the admission process.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a social services field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
• One or more years’ experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries about the facility within facility policy timeframes.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Perform benefit eligibility to ensure patient benefits are active at admission and communicate eligibility to the business office.
• Collaborate with facility medical and psychiatric personnel on referrals and treatment planning.
• Coordinate admission and transfer from referral sources and between levels of care.
• Maintain knowledge of milieu management and ensure timely admissions and documentation.
• Complete pre-admission assessments, consult with the admitting physician, and communicate disposition recommendations.
• Prepare medical records for payor authorization and pre-authorization when possible.
• Admit patients in registration and accounting systems and complete all forms.
• Demonstrate professional, empathetic service and prioritize patient safety.
• Coordinate care for patients not admitted and arrange follow-up care and referrals.
