Job summary

Flaherty Sensabaugh Bonasso PLLC is seeking a Part Time Accounting Clerk focused on accounts receivable in our Charleston, WV office. The role records and processes payments, maintains client accounts, and supports the Finance Department with reconciliations and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, confidentiality, organization, and a commitment to client service, working closely with attorneys and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Two or more years of accounts receivable, cash application, bookkeeping, or related experience preferred.
• Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment is preferred but not required.
• Experience processing payments, maintaining account records, and completing account reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with accounting or financial management software preferred; ability to learn the Firm's systems required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and accurately record client and other incoming payments in the accounting system.
• Apply checks, ACH payments, wire transfers, credit card payments, and other receipts to the correct client, matter, invoice, or GL account.
• Research unidentified or unapplied payments and obtain information needed for proper application.
• Identify and resolve payment discrepancies and posting errors.
• Prepare daily deposits and verify receipts against bank activity and ledger entries.
• Assist with reconciliations of accounts receivable activity and deposits; maintain supporting docs.
