Staples is seeking a detail-oriented accountant to join our Staples Accounting team in a part-time role (20 hours per week). You will support month-end close, prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and manage gift card replenishment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting.

• 0–2 years of accounting experience; foundational knowledge of GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain a two-day close schedule.
• Analyze accounts through balance sheet reconciliation processes.
• Partner with internal teams to develop and maintain accounting processes and controls.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
• Manage operational duties related to gift card stock replenishment, including vendor order placement.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
