Job summary

Eastern University’s College of Education is seeking a Part-Time Academic Coach for Parent Pathways Students to provide online academic coaching to Non-Traditional Flex Undergraduate students.

The role focuses on coaching in study skills, time management, and test-taking, and includes developing online workshops on registration, financial aid, and other student supports to helpNavigate university systems effectively.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling or related field (strongly preferred).
• Proven written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong organization and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
• One-two years of experience in academic support, advising, or counseling in higher education preferred.
• Experience with Brightspace and Zoom or online education preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a cross-functional team and build trust with faculty and staff.
• Experience or positive attitude towards adult education is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provides online academic coaching to students with study skills, time management, test-taking, and reading strategies.
• Develops and presents online workshops on study skills, time management, and navigating the system (e.g., registration, financial aid).
• Maintains case documentation and prepares weekly records of contacts and summary reports.
• Assists students with navigating university systems such as financial aid and registration.
• Assists academically under-prepared or underperforming students in creating and following improvement plans.
• Maintains competencies with web-based training and attends seminars.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs.
• Works to foster a team environment.
• Embodies values of caring, justice, integrity, competence and affirmation.

Job description

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs, the Part-Time Academic Coach for Parent Pathways Students provides academic coaching to students in Eastern’s Non-Traditional Flex Undergraduate students.

1. Provides online academic coaching to students who enroll for services with study skills, time/self-management, test-taking, reading strategies, etc.
2. As requested, develops and presents online workshops focused on study skills, time management, "negotiating the system" (e.g., registration, financial aid), etc.
3. Maintains case documentation and prepares weekly records of contacts and other summary reports as requested by theAssistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs.
4. Assists students with navigating University systems such as financial aid and registration.
5. Assists academically under-prepared or underperforming students in creating and following programs for improvement.
6. Maintains competencies with web-based training and attendance at seminars.
7. Other duties as assigned by theAssistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs.
8. Works to foster a team environment.

Status

Part-time, 19 hours/week, 9 months per year.

• Master’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling or a related field and a minimum of one year's experience in academic support, counseling, and/or advising in an institution of higher education are strongly preferred.
• Proven written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and organization and attention to detail are essential.
• Demonstrated student service orientation, and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
• are required.
• One-two years of experience with Brightspace preferred. Experience with Zoom, online education preferred.
• Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines and ability to work independently in a cross-functional team fostering trust with all levels of faculty, staff, and leadership are essential
• Experience in, or positive attitude towards, adult education is essential.

Employment in this role is contingent upon the availability of grant funds,satisfactory job performance, and the program's ongoing operational needs. In the event that grant funding is reduced, terminated, or not renewed, your position may be subject to modification or termination
