Ryerson is hiring a Part Handler to support maintenance and operations in our US facility. You will help ensure maximum equipment uptime, perform preventative maintenance, and assist with on-call responses to breakdowns.

Qualifications

  • Skills-based assessment evaluates reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and OSHA CA certificates.
  • Able to operate forklift and overhead crane.
  • Knowledge of equipment such as cranes, shears, saws, motors and burning equipment.
  • Knowledge in electrical, mechanical and hydraulics.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks.
  • Onboarding includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment compliant with EPA/OSHA regulations.
  • Comply with maintenance schedule and complete preventative maintenance programs.
  • Train and supervise operators on daily maintenance tasks for equipment.
  • React to unscheduled breakdowns with urgency.
  • Repair standard machinery including plate fabrication, material handling equipment, overhead cranes and building repairs.
  • Maintain about 80% uptime with limited production interruptions or breakdowns.
  • On-call readiness to respond as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned or changed without notice.

As a Part Handler at Norlen, part of Ryerson family of companies, you will be responsible for the proper completion of all plant and equipment maintenance to ensure maximum operational efficiency with limited unscheduled downtime.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment (compliant with EPA/OSHA regulations)
  • Complying to maintenance schedule and completion of preventative maintenance programs
  • Training and supervision of operators on daily maintenance tasks for equipment
  • Ability to react to unscheduled breakdowns with urgency
  • Capable of standard repairs on all machinery including plate fabrication equipment, material handling equipment, overhead cranes and building repairs
  • Ensure 80% up-time of all equipment with limited unscheduled production interruptions or breakdowns
  • Employee must also be able to respond on an on call basis.

Requirements
