The Parole & Probation Deputy position is the entry-level role in the Parole & Probation Division of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. It involves supervising adult justice-involved individuals in the community to maintain public safety and support rehabilitation, with opportunities for progression based on training and experience.
Prospective deputies will carry firearms and engage with justice-involved individuals daily, using corrections knowledge and strong communication.

We're excited to announce all fees for testing have been waived, and Oregon lateral transfers will not need to take the written or physical (ORPAT) test.
Testing for this position is required. Both the POST and ORPAT tests will be offered on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at the Benton County Fairgrounds starting at 8:30am.
Previous POST and ORPAT test results will be accepted if they've been completed within 1 year.
To provide supervisory and investigative services to individuals recommended for placement under supervision by releasing authorities, e.g., Courts, Board of Parole and Post Prison Supervision, Department of Corrections, local supervisory authority, and the Psychiatric Security Review Board.
The Parole & Probation Deputy position is the entry-level position in the Parole & Probation Division of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. However, depending on training and experience the selected candidate may be started at a greater salary step. The position requires day-to-day interaction with justice-involved individuals (JII’s) using basic corrections knowledge and interpersonal communication skills. Parole & Probation Deputies will be required to carry firearms issued by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office in the performance of their duties.
The purpose of the Parole and Probation Deputy is to supervise adult justice-involved individuals in the community to maintain a high standard of public safety. Parole and Probation Deputies provide opportunities and means for rehabilitation in order to prevent future recidivism. In addition, deputies address non-compliance through a graduated sanction process moving from least restrictive to most restrictive, depending on JII’s level of risk to the community.
